I chose the name magokoro for my private practice as a commitment to always put my heart into the work that I do. The root word kokoro also encompasses the whole person approach to my practice.

What inspired me to start Magokoro Wellness was my own healing journey as a late-diagnosed neurodivergent (Autistic/ADHD) person with disordered eating and chronic illness. Going through conventional treatment was stressful, overwhelming, and traumatic. I also felt dismissed and disempowered by the professionals who were in charge of my care and this experience led me to this work.

I believe in the importance of holding space, listening with compassion and empathy, and validating the experiences of neurodivergent people. I encourage you to define “health” and “wellness” for yourselves and I am here to offer my guidance and support in your journey so that it is less confusing, scary, and stressful, but more empowering and even joyful :) I will meet you where you are and our focus will be on progress, not perfection.

It’s necessary to acknowledge that there are multiple factors that impact our health and that wellness is more than the absence of symptoms, but must also include our emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. This is why I believe it takes a whole person and multi-factorial approach to transform our relationship with food and how we nourish ourselves - body, mind, and heart.

Thank you for being here. I look forward to connecting with you!
